Key Responsibilities- Supervise on-site pavement construction activities including subgrade preparation, base and sub-base layers, asphalt paving, and concrete pavement works.
- Ensure runway, taxiway, and apron pavements are constructed in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, and technical specifications.
- Monitor paving operations, layer thickness, compaction, temperatures, finishing tolerances, and workmanship quality.
- Coordinate with QA and QC teams and testing laboratories for field and laboratory tests including density, gradation, asphalt content, concrete strength, and surface smoothness.
- Verify compliance with ICAO, FAA, and local aviation authority pavement requirements.
- Identify quality issues and NCRs and support implementation of corrective actions.
- Coordinate with survey teams to verify horizontal and vertical alignments, crossfalls, slopes, and tolerance requirements for airfield pavements.
- Assist in verification of levels, profiles, and preparation of as-built records.
- Liaise with construction, planning, QA & QC, and HSE teams to ensure effective sequencing and productivity of pavement works.
- Prepare daily progress reports, technical records, and inspection documentation.
- Support resolution of technical queries, RFIs, and construction challenges.
- Ensure pavement activities comply with approved HSE plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Work in compliance with airside safety rules, FOD control procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
- Support safe operations within restricted and operational airfield environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in pavement engineering or site supervision roles.
- Proven experience in runway, taxiway, apron, or major highway pavement works.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt and concrete pavement construction, materials, and testing procedures.
- Familiarity with pavement design and construction standards including ICAO, FAA, AASHTO, and ASTM.
- Ability to read and interpret pavement drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic reporting tools.
- Strong coordination, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience working on active or operational airfields.
- Knowledge of pavement management systems and smoothness requirements such as IRI.
- Familiarity with asphalt batching plants, pavers, and related construction equipment.
- Experience with document management systems such as Aconex or similar platforms.
- Airside Driving Permit or eligibility to obtain one is an advantage.
- Participate in a high-profile airport runway development project in Saudi Arabia.
