General Manager, Operational Readiness Team (ORT)
Job PurposeThe General Manager – ORT will lead the operational readiness agenda throughout design, engineering, construction, commissioning, startup, and ramp‑up of the REE project. The role ensures operational, maintenance, laboratory, quality, and support requirements are embedded early in the project so the plant can be handed over ready to operate safely, reliably, and in line with product quality targets.
Key Accountabilities Design Integration- Represent operations during design reviews and ensure operability, maintainability, reliability, safety, quality control, laboratory, warehousing, utility, and maintenance‑access requirements are embedded.
- Coordinate with project and EPCM teams to ensure systems, documents, vendor support, spares, tools, consumables, and site facilities are available in line with startup needs.
- Lead readiness for commissioning and startup, support performance stabilization, and ensure the plant can ramp up safely while achieving recovery and product quality requirements.
- Define organization structure, shift coverage, headcount, critical roles, capability requirements, and recruitment priorities for operations and maintenance teams.
- Lead hiring planning, onboarding, competency matrices, training plans, and certification requirements for operators, maintenance, laboratory, and technical support teams.
- Ensure SOPs, maintenance strategies, laboratory procedures, quality systems, emergency response, reporting routines, and handover governance are fully developed and implemented.
- Ensure the plant is designed and built with operational requirements fully incorporated.
- Make the facility ready for safe commissioning, startup, and controlled ramp‑up with minimal quality issues.
- Define the future operating model, manpower plan, and organization structure.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and readiness of operations and maintenance personnel.
- Ensure procedures, training, spare parts, systems, laboratory readiness, and governance are in place before handover.
- 20+ years of experience in mining, minerals processing, hydrometallurgy, or chemical process industries.
- Strong understanding of process operations, product quality management, laboratory controls, maintenance readiness, and ramp‑up risks.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead operational teams and workforce planning.
- Degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mineral Processing, or related engineering discipline (postgraduate preferred).
- Experience in uranium processing or similar sectors is an advantage.
Successful delivery will be demonstrated through:
- Safe and efficient startup.
- Timely and complete handover.
- Fully prepared personnel and systems before commissioning.
- Controlled ramp‑up and stable operational performance.
- Reduced risk during transition from project to operations.
