Role Overview
The Technical Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all technical aspects of the roads and bridges project. He will serve as the key technical authority ensuring that design, construction, and supervision activities comply with project requirements, engineering standards, and client expectations. The role requires strong technical expertise in highway or bridge engineering, coupled with leadership and coordination skills to manage multidisciplinary teams and resolve technical challenges effectively.
Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate all technical activities among the supervision team, design consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Review and approve technical submittals, drawings, and design changes to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Provide expert advice on complex engineering issues related to roads, bridges, and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure timely resolution of technical queries (RFI) and non-conformance reports (NCR).
- Coordinate with design consultants and contractors to address discrepancies between design and site conditions.
- Monitor implementation of approved construction methodologies and quality control procedures.
- Support the supervision team in reviewing test results, materials approvals, and method statements.
- Ensure all works are executed in accordance with project specifications, codes, and best practices.
- Liaise with the Client, PMO, design consultants, and contractors to ensure clear communication and alignment on technical matters.
- Participate in technical meetings and progress reviews, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Coordinate with discipline leads (civil, structural, geotechnical, materials, etc.) to ensure technical integration across project components.
- Prepare and review technical reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all technical decisions, approvals, and changes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in major road or bridge infrastructure projects.
- Proven background in design, supervision, and construction management of bridges and highways.
- Strong knowledge of international design codes and standards (AASHTO, BS, EN, etc.).
- Experience in PMC / Supervision consultancy is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills.
- Professional certification (e.g., PMP, Chartered Engineer, PE) is an advantage.
