Senior Transportation Systems Safety Engineer (m/f/d) – Saudi Arabia

Responsibilities- Lead and oversee system safety activities including hazard identification (HAZID), hazard analysis (HAZOP), risk assessments and ALARP demonstrations across all transit systems.
- Review and approve safety‑related documentation including RAMS reports, hazard logs, safety cases, SIL determinations, safety assurance plans and V&V documentation.
- Provide safety oversight of all transit systems—signalling/ATC, rolling stock, PSDs, traction power, telecoms, SCADA, tunnel ventilation and station systems—ensuring compliance with safety standards and Employer Requirements.
- Monitor and assess safety implications of design changes, construction methods, system interfaces, integration activities, ensuring risks are controlled and documented.
- Oversee safety‑related testing & commissioning activities, including validation of emergency scenarios, degraded modes, fail‑safe behaviours and operational safety performance.
- Participate in inspections, audits, NCR processes and safety compliance reviews to verify construction and installation activities meet required safety standards.
- Coordinate safety interfaces across disciplines and stakeholders, working closely with PMCM teams, DB Contractor, O&M Entity and Employer representatives to resolve safety issues.
- Prepare safety reports, hazard logs, risk registers, audit findings and compliance documentation to support Employer decision‑making and PMCM reporting obligations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering or a related discipline with 15+ years of safety engineering experience.
- Extensive experience in rail or metro system safety engineering, including RAMS, hazard analysis, safety assurance and safety case development for complex transit systems.
- Strong knowledge of international safety standards such as EN 50126, EN 50129, EN 50716, NFPA 130, including SIL methodologies and ALARP principles.
- Proven capability to review and validate hazard logs, safety cases, risk assessments, V&V documentation and safety compliance deliverables in multi‑system environments.
- Experience supporting testing & commissioning of safety‑critical systems, including emergency scenarios, degraded modes and operational safety validation.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to evaluate safety risks, assess system behaviour and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder coordination skills in complex, multi‑contract metro mega project environments.
- High level of professional integrity, attention to detail and ability to manage safety assurance activities within dynamic and fast‑paced project conditions.
