The project

This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia. This unique project consists of major mixed‑use development including sports facilities, entertainment and arts along with all associated infrastructure.

Mace is one of the delivery partners requiring high‑calibre and experienced professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase of the project.

The Role

Mace is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager – Highways to join the delivery partner team. In this role, you will lead the coordination and assurance of highway design packages, ensuring that all designs are fully integrated, technically robust, and aligned with programme, cost, and construction requirements.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors to manage the design process from concept through to construction, ensuring the successful delivery of high‑quality infrastructure across the programme.

You’ll be responsible for
  • Management and coordination of highway and road infrastructure design packages across the project lifecycle.
  • Act as a key interface between design consultants, delivery teams, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of design outputs.
  • Review and manage design deliverables, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards and project requirements.
  • Oversee the resolution of design issues, clashes, and interface challenges across civil, structural and utilities disciplines.
  • Ensure designs are buildable, cost‑effective, and aligned with programme constraints.
  • Support value engineering and optimisation of highway design solutions.
  • Manage design change, ensuring robust control processes and impact assessments are in place.
  • Coordinate with site teams to ensure smooth transition from design to construction and support technical queries during delivery.
  • Participate in design reviews, workshops and technical assurance processes.
  • Ensure alignment with local authority and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide regular reporting on design progress, risks, and performance to senior stakeholders.
You’ll need to have
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Engineer within highways or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in road, highway, and transportation design on large‑scale developments.
  • Experience working within a PMC, delivery partner or consultant environment.
  • Necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and have relevant work experience working on high‑valued projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, which are required for immigration and client approval.
