Position Summary

Hanmi Global Saudi Arabia is seeking an experienced Resident Mechanical Engineer to join its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for a major residential development project in Riyadh. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical engineering activities during construction, ensuring that mechanical systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and handed over in full compliance with the contract documents, applicable codes, quality standards, and project schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise all mechanical construction activities, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, LPG (where applicable), and associated mechanical systems.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, inspection requests, and technical submissions.
  • Ensure all mechanical works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate mechanical works with architectural, structural, electrical, and infrastructure disciplines to resolve interface issues.
  • Monitor construction progress and verify compliance with the approved project programme.
  • Lead mechanical inspections and witness testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and system performance verification.
  • Review and approve inspection records, test reports, commissioning documentation, and as-built drawings.
  • Identify construction issues and recommend practical engineering solutions.
  • Monitor contractor performance and recommend corrective actions where required.
  • Participate in technical meetings, progress meetings, and coordination workshops.
  • Support commercial evaluations related to variations, claims, and technical assessments when requested.
  • Ensure full compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), and project governance requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports and provide regular updates to project management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Valid registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers.
  • Professional membership with an internationally recognized engineering institution is an advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years in a Resident Mechanical Engineer or similar supervisory role on large-scale construction projects.
  • Previous experience with Project Management Consultants (PMC) is highly preferred.
  • Experience in residential, mixed-use, hospitality, healthcare, or major building developments is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code, NFPA, ASHRAE, SMACNA, IPC, and other relevant international standards.
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building services systems.
  • Experience reviewing shop drawings, material approvals, RFIs, and commissioning documentation.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary design reviews.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering management software.
  • Knowledge of project planning and construction sequencing.
Professional Certifications
  • Saudi Council of Engineers Registration (mandatory).
  • PMP certification is an advantage.
  • ASHRAE membership or equivalent professional certification is desirable.
