Job Title:

Environmental Engineer HSSE Department Role

Purpose:

The Environmental Engineer ensures that all company operations and projects comply with environmental regulations, sustainability principles, and client-specific environmental requirements. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental management plans and procedures to minimize environmental impact, promote best practices, and maintain compliance with national and international standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi environmental laws, regulations, and requirements set by the National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) and other authorities.
  • Obtain and renew environmental permits, licenses, and approvals for construction projects.
  • Monitor adherence to environmental impact assessment (EIA) recommendations and mitigation measures.
  • Liaise with government agencies and clients regarding environmental performance and reporting obligations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO 14001 standards.
  • Conduct periodic environmental audits and inspections to ensure effective implementation of EMS procedures.
  • Participate in the identification of environmental aspects and impacts of all project activities.
  • Support certification audits and corrective action plans.
  • Prepare and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and Construction Environmental Control Plans (CECPs) for all projects.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring on-site, including waste management, air emissions, water quality, and soil protection.
  • Prepare detailed environmental performance and compliance reports for internal use and client submission.
  • Track and analyze environmental indicators (KPIs) and recommend improvements.
  • Promote sustainable construction practices such as resource efficiency, pollution prevention, and waste minimization.
  • Develop and oversee waste segregation, recycling, and disposal programs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate project activities for potential environmental risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Support initiatives aligned with Al Bawani Group’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) objectives.
  • Deliver environmental awareness and training sessions to employees and subcontractors.
  • Promote a culture of environmental responsibility across all project teams.
  • Participate in incident investigations involving environmental non-conformance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Continuously update environmental policies and procedures in line with best practices and legal updates.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in environmental engineering or management within construction, oil & gas, or infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth understanding of Saudi environmental laws, NCEC standards, and international environmental best practices.
  • Proven experience implementing ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Experience in conducting environmental monitoring, audits, and reporting.

Strong understanding of EIA, sustainability, and waste management processes.

Education and Certification

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
  • Certification in ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems or equivalent.
