Mechanical InspectorResponsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Inspector include:
- Extensive experience in road infrastructure projects, including irrigation systems, stormwater drainage, and utility networks, with involvement in both design review and site execution.
- Senior‑level technical capability, able to independently review designs, make sound engineering decisions, and support construction teams beyond routine supervision.
- Strong knowledge of irrigation, pumping, and drainage systems, including both gravity and pressurized networks, water demand calculations, pump sizing, pipe material selection, and verification of system capacity and performance.
- Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrological analysis, using standard engineering methods and software (e.g., Manning Equation, Rational Method, WaterCAD/WaterGEMS) to check pipe sizing, flow rates, slopes, and drainage capacity, and to adapt designs when site conditions change.
- Conduct site inspections and perform witness testing activities, including pressure and performance tests, to verify that irrigation, drainage, and pumping systems meet approved technical and quality standards.
- Review and respond to technical correspondence, RFIs, shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals, providing clear, timely, and professional technical input.
- Identify, assess, and resolve technical issues on site through effective coordination with design consultants, contractors, and construction teams, ensuring minimal impact on schedule and performance.
- Ensure all mechanical works comply with applicable codes, standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements, supporting successful project delivery and handover.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in mechanical design review and shop drawing inspection.
- Proven experience in reviewing mechanical designs and shop drawings.
- Must have experience working in roads, bridges, and tunnel projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, utilities, and relevant standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ASTM, etc.).
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills.
