Job Description
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Steel Bridge Expert to join our team! In this role you will get to work within a PMO working on major highways / infrastructure projects in the KSA Capital, Riyadh City.
What You’ll Be Doing- Act as the main advisor on all technical aspects associated with the design, procurement, fabrication and erection of steel highway bridges.
- Review and approve steel bridge design drawings and calculations, including fabrication and shop drawings.
- Review and approve prequalification documents for steel bridge construction contractors as well as fabrication workshops. Review and approve prequalification documents for third‑party inspection companies carrying out non‑destructive (NDT) and destructive testing associated with steel bridge fabrication (material sourcing and welding operation).
- Oversight of steel construction operations including conducting field visits to bridge fabrication workshops and erection sites.
- Review and approve method statements, inspection and testing plans (ITP) and review and approve test results and reports.
- Prepare cost‑benefit analyses comparing different design options and make recommendations.
- Review supplier drawing submittals and perform technical bid analyses.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on complex steel bridge design matters.
- Act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on steel bridge engineering related matters.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering. Master’s Degree is desirable.
- 15 years of solid steel bridge design/construction experience with particular emphasis on fabrication of all types of steel bridges (box girders, plate girders, etc.).
- Strong familiarity with AASHTO‑LRFD Bridge Design and Construction specifications.
- Strong familiarity with quality control requirements associated with high quality steel bridges in accordance with acceptable international standards including AASHTO/AWS D1.5, Bridge Welding Code.
- Experience of working within a multi‑disciplined team environment.
- Proactive approach to own activities and helping in other disciplines, as far as practically possible, to assist in PMO overall efficiency.
- Good presentation and communication skills.
- Previous experience of working in a design/supervision consultancy and/or PMC/PMO.
- Charted/Professional Engineer (PE) (or similar) status with an industry recognized engineering body.
- Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering desirable.
- Experience managing large tasks and/or projects and leading/directing technical teams.
