The Structural Design Engineer – Underground will provide technical design review and construction support for underground and heavy civil infrastructure works in Riyadh. The position requires strong understanding of structural mechanics, geotechnical principles, foundation design, design‑build documentation, contractor submissions, and multidisciplinary coordination. Working with civil, architectural, MEP, project controls, contractor, subcontractor, and client teams, the role helps identify design discrepancies, resolve technical challenges, and protect structural quality throughout design and construction stages.
Key Responsibilities- Review project standards, specifications, drawings, calculations, technical documents, and design reports to confirm alignment with project objectives and approved requirements.
- Assess design‑build documents, structural drawings, operating manuals, calculations, and technical reports for compliance with client requirements and project standards.
- Review contractor submittals covering materials, construction methodologies, subcontractor prequalification documents, installation methods, and related technical submissions.
- Support the Lead Civil Engineer and Senior Structural Engineers in preparing, reviewing, and consolidating technical reports, investigations, root cause analyses, and engineering status reports.
- Assist in monitoring project budgets, schedules, scope compliance, design progress, and engineering deliverable commitments.
- Provide structural engineering support to multidisciplinary teams including architectural, MEP, civil, construction, project controls, and site delivery disciplines.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and internal engineering teams to support timely delivery of design and engineering activities.
- Attend and witness inspections, testing, installation demonstrations, acceptance activities, and site verification works when required.
- Review and respond to Requests for Information related to structural engineering issues, underground works, design coordination, technical discrepancies, and construction interfaces.
- Provide technical support to construction sites and help resolve design‑related issues affecting quality, constructability, safety, progress, or compliance.
- Identify design discrepancies, structural risks, coordination gaps, incomplete documentation, and technical challenges.
- Evaluate engineering problems and recommend practical structural solutions based on design standards, project requirements, site conditions, and construction constraints.
- Participate in safety meetings and review proposed materials, installation demonstrations, construction systems, and construction methods.
- Support structural coordination for underground works, heavy civil structures, foundations, retaining systems, tunnels, transit infrastructure, and related civil assets.
- Review structural deliverables with consideration for geotechnical conditions, foundation behavior, durability, maintainability, construction sequencing, and long‑term performance.
- Maintain clear records of review comments, technical decisions, site observations, action items, RFI responses, and coordination outcomes.
