key duties

We are seeking a motivated Graduate Fire Engineer to join our Riyadh office. This role offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment while contributing to high‑profile regional and international projects.

Fire engineering at Buro Happold focuses on delivering innovative, performance-based solutions that balance life safety, design ambition, and regulatory compliance. You will support projects from concept through to completion, gaining exposure across the full building lifecycle.

  • Support the development of fire safety strategies and engineering solutions across a range of projects.
  • Assist in applying local and international fire codes, standards, and performance-based design approaches.
  • Perform fire engineering calculations, including smoke modelling and evacuation analysis (ranging from hand calculations to advanced simulation tools).
  • Contribute to the selection and integration of fire protection systems such as detection and suppression systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure coordinated and effective design solutions.
  • Participate in technical discussions and presentations with clients and stakeholders.
  • Support coordination with local authorities and regulatory bodies in Saudi Arabia.
  • Attend site visits to review implementation of fire engineering strategies.
Your Skills And Experience
  • Master’s degree in Fire Engineering, or a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering with a strong interest in fire engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Interest in performance-based design and innovative engineering approaches.

    Ability to work effectively within a team and manage multiple priorities.
