We are seeking an experienced Safety Engineer to conduct technical and safety reviews of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for mission-critical data center facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This role is responsible for ensuring operational procedures accurately identify hazards, include appropriate risk mitigation measures, and comply with Saudi Arabian regulations, client standards, applicable international safety requirements, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction or industrial safety, critical facilities operations, operational risk assessment, and procedure review.
You will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Commissioning, and EHS teams to identify deficiencies, recommend improvements, and ensure procedures reflect current facility configurations, safe work practices, and reliable data center operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform detailed technical and safety reviews of SOPs, EOPs, and MOPs for mission-critical data center facilities.
- Verify procedures accurately reflect current as-built conditions, equipment configurations, operational sequences, and facility requirements.
- Ensure procedures are technically accurate, complete, clearly written, and free of conflicting or ambiguous instructions.
- Identify outdated, redundant, missing, or incomplete procedures and recommend required revisions.
- Verify all procedures include appropriate revision history, document control, approval records, prerequisites, contingency steps, and rollback requirements where applicable.
- Evaluate each procedure for personnel safety hazards, operational risks, and potential impacts to facility uptime.
- Perform formal risk assessments and hazard analyses for operational activities, planned maintenance, equipment shutdowns, electrical switching, generator operations, UPS maintenance, cooling system operations, utility transfers, and emergency response activities.
- Verify hazards are clearly identified, and appropriate controls, precautions, and mitigation steps are documented before work begins.
- Review switching sequences, isolation points, operational steps, and emergency response procedures to minimize personnel and operational risk.
- Verify compliance with applicable Saudi Arabian occupational safety regulations, client requirements, relevant NFPA guidance, OSHA principles where contractually required, and accepted international best practices adopted by the project.
- Verify proper implementation of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit-to-Work, PPE, electrical safe work practices, arc flash controls, energized electrical work permits, confined space entry, hot work, working at heights, and isolation verification requirements.
- Confirm required PPE is appropriate for each task and clearly identified within each procedure.
- Validate procedures against current one-line diagrams, P&IDs, equipment schedules, as-built documentation, equipment identification numbers, breaker numbers, valve designations, and system references.
- Participate in technical review meetings, safety workshops, procedure validation sessions, and operational readiness reviews.
- Provide clear recommendations to improve procedure quality, safety, consistency, and operational reliability.
- Support standardized procedure formats, procedure governance, periodic review programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify recurring deficiencies and support corrective actions across Operations, Engineering, Quality, Commissioning, and EHS teams.
