Role ContextThe Senior BIM-CAD Engineer will provide digital coordination leadership across a complex airport development where numerous engineering disciplines must work within a controlled and reliable information environment. The role connects design teams, consultants, contractors, specialist suppliers, and construction personnel through coordinated BIM models and standardized CAD workflows. The position will help maintain an accurate digital representation of airport assets from design through construction and final handover.
Effective model federation, clash management, information control, and data quality will reduce coordination risks, improve constructability, and create dependable asset information for future airport operations and maintenance.
- Lead BIM coordination across the airport development program and maintain consistent digital engineering practices throughout project delivery.
- Establish and maintain BIM workflows, procedures, modeling requirements, coordination protocols, and CAD standards.
- Support implementation of the BIM Execution Plan and wider Digital Delivery Strategy.
- Provide technical direction to BIM engineers, CAD technicians, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Verify that digital deliverables satisfy client requirements, project objectives, information standards, and agreed delivery milestones.
- Coordinate BIM models covering Civil, Structural, Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, ICT, ELV, Utilities, Drainage, Airfield, AGL, and specialist airport systems.
- Federate discipline models and undertake structured clash detection and interface reviews.
- Identify spatial conflicts, design inconsistencies, and coordination risks before they affect construction.
- Work with discipline leads to resolve clashes and improve engineering solutions through coordinated model development.
- Review BIM models, CAD drawings, and digital deliverables for technical quality and project compliance.
- Verify Level of Development and Level of Information requirements at defined project stages.
- Check model coordinates, naming conventions, parameters, classifications, references, and data consistency.
- Monitor consultant and contractor BIM submissions and track outstanding digital coordination issues.
- Maintain compliance with Common Data Environment procedures and project document control requirements.
- Coordinate digital models for passenger terminals, concourses, cargo facilities, runways, taxiways, aprons, aircraft stands, and support buildings.
- Integrate airport roads, utility corridors, drainage infrastructure, maintenance facilities, and operational systems within coordinated models.
- Manage airside and landside digital interfaces where infrastructure and building systems intersect.
- Administer CAD templates, drawing standards, layer conventions, workflows, references, and production requirements.
- Review drawings to ensure consistent presentation, technical accuracy, and compliance with approved CAD standards.
- Provide drafting and visualization support for engineering teams when complex coordination requires additional detail.
- Maintain reliable revision records and ensure design changes are reflected across affected models and drawings.
- Support construction teams with BIM information during installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Review contractor models, coordinated shop drawings, as-built information, and construction-stage digital submissions.
- Use BIM coordination to resolve field conflicts and minimize avoidable rework.
- Support BIM-based construction sequencing and progress monitoring where required.
- Assist project teams in verifying installed works against approved coordinated models.
- Support development of Asset Information Models for handover and future facility management.
