Key Responsibilities
  • Take-Offs & Quantity Surveying: Extract material quantities, labor hours, and equipment needs from engineering drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
  • Cost Estimation & Analysis: Calculate total project costs—including direct costs (materials, labor, plant) and indirect costs (overheads, contingencies, escalation, profit margins).
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Management: Solicit, review, and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
  • Tender & Bid Preparation: Prepare technical and commercial proposals, fill out Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and ensure full compliance with client submission guidelines.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential financial, technical, or schedule risks in contract documents and factor contingency allowances into cost models.
  • Site & Market Research: Conduct site visits to assess working conditions, access, and site‑specific logistics that impact pricing.
  • Post-Tender Support: Participate in tender clarification meetings, value engineering discussions, and assist project management teams during the handover phase.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or Quantity Surveying/Construction Management).
  • Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, Primavera P6/MS Project, Excel (advanced), and specialized estimation software (e.g., CostX, Candy, Bluebeam, or Plan Swift).

    Competencies:

    Strong analytical math skills, deep understanding of engineering drawings/contracts (FIDIC), market rate awareness, and negotiation skills.
