The Project

This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia. This unique project consists of major mixed-use development including sports facilities, entertainment and arts along with all associated infrastructure.

Mace is one of the delivery partners requiring high-calibre and experienced professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase of the project.

To lead functional safety assurance across the portfolio, ensuring transport systems are safe, integrated and compliant throughout the project lifecycle. The role works with project teams, suppliers and authorities to manage safety requirements and risks, secure approvals, and meet recognised standards including EN50126, EN50716 and EN50129, while supporting "Safety First" culture.

You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Lead the development and delivery of system and functional safety strategies, plans and assurance processes across the transport portfolio, ensuring safety targets, risks and acceptance criteria are clearly defined, managed and evidenced throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide expert oversight of hazard identification, verification, validation and specialist safety studies, applying recognised standards and ALARP principles to support safe, compliant and operable assets.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership, project teams, suppliers and regulatory authorities to monitor delivery, secure technical approvals and provide clear, timely reporting on safety plans, requirements and performance.
  • Champion a safety-first culture by advising teams, supporting incident investigations and developing capability through coaching, guidance and the consistent application of industry best practice.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You’ll Need To Have
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with a focus on railway systems safety; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Recognised professional membership and Chartered Engineer status, or an equivalent internationally recognised professional registration.
  • 10-15 years' relevant experience within land transport-related design, construction and/or operations & maintenance programs.
  • Middle East experience is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of smart-city frameworks and sustainable design principles.
  • Proven experience developing and delivering safety assurance evidence within safety-critical transport environments.
  • Detailed knowledge of safety performance measures and international benchmarks.
  • Necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and have relevant work experience working on high-valued projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, which are required for immigration and client approval.
