Civil & Structural Engineering
The Steel Structure Engineer converts architectural and project requirements into technically sound structural systems that can be fabricated and constructed efficiently. The position covers structural modelling, load analysis, member design, connection coordination, technical documentation, contractor submittal review, and site verification. Close coordination between engineering, architecture, fabrication, and construction teams is essential. By identifying structural conflicts early and optimizing steel designs for strength, constructability, and material efficiency, the engineer contributes directly to project safety, cost control, programme performance, and long-term structural reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Design structural steel systems for commercial, industrial, building, and infrastructure projects.
- Develop structural models and perform engineering analysis using STAAD Pro, SAP
2000, or equivalent specialist software. - Carry out structural calculations to determine member capacities, loading behavior, stability, deflection, and overall system performance.
- Apply finite element analysis where required to evaluate complex structural behavior and optimize engineering solutions.
- Design steel members and structural arrangements in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project criteria.
- Prepare technical drawings, engineering details, specifications, calculations, and construction documentation.
- Use AutoCAD and related design platforms to produce accurate structural information for coordination and construction.
- Coordinate structural solutions with architects, civil engineers, MEP disciplines, project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Review contractor fabrication drawings, shop drawings, material information, and technical submissions against approved design requirements.
- Identify discrepancies between design intent and fabrication proposals and coordinate timely technical resolution.
- Support constructability reviews and assess how structural decisions affect fabrication, transportation, erection, and site sequencing.
- Conduct site inspections during steel fabrication and installation to verify workmanship and compliance with approved documentation.
- Perform quality assurance checks and report structural or construction deficiencies requiring corrective action.
- Analyze design challenges and develop practical engineering solutions without compromising structural safety or required performance.
- Contribute to value engineering by evaluating alternatives that improve material efficiency, constructability, or project cost.
- Support project schedules by coordinating engineering deliverables with procurement, fabrication, and construction requirements.
- Maintain organized calculations, drawings, design records, technical correspondence, and engineering documentation.
- Prepare structural engineering reports, technical assessments, and supporting information for project proposals when required.
- Keep current with steel design standards, construction practices, engineering technologies, and applicable Saudi regulatory requirements.
- Support BIM-based structural coordination where digital project delivery processes are implemented.
Candidates should demonstrate proven professional experience in structural steel design and engineering, supported by strong knowledge of steel behavior, structural analysis, fabrication, and construction processes. Advanced proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, SAP
2000, or equivalent platforms is required. Candidates should also be capable users of AutoCAD or comparable CAD systems for engineering…
