Key Responsibilities
- Being the key contact for all temporary works related matters on the project
- Ensuring temporary works are managed in accordance with QIC and SHS JV temporary works procedure
- Having a detailed knowledge and understanding of the SHS JV s procedure for managing temporary works
- Developing and maintaining a Temporary Works Register
- Produces and maintains the SHS JV s Temporary Works Management Plan
- Ensuring that all required records are developed and maintained
- Ensuring all required inspections are conducted
- Coordinating with others Contractors and Sub-Contractors on the same and adjoining sites Where temporary works interface with each other ensuring that designs and construction are integrated and coordinated
- Reviewing and approving the temporary works proposals form Sub-Contractors
- Ensuring all Sub-Contractors meet or exceed the requirements of the procedure
- Ensuring where temporary loadings affect a permanent structure that the permanent works designer Lead Design Consultant is consulted
- Ensuring that the construction of the temporary works meets the parameters of the Temporary Works Design or solution
- Consulting with the Temporary Works Designer to develop a suitable inspection regime
- Conducting inspections and issuing Permits to Load and Strike and ensuring that the measures described within the permit are maintained and complied with
- Ensuring issues encountered with the construction of the design are escalated to the Temporary Works Designer and where required works are stopped until rectification is agreed
- Appointing Temporary Works Supervisors
- Monitoring the performance of Temporary Works Supervisors
- Reviewing and approving the Risk Assessment and Method Statement for the installation and dismantling of any temporary works
- Checking any proposed changes in plant and materials or construction methodology against the original temporary works design and taking appropriate action to prevent any adverse impact on health and safety
- Ensuring that a change control process is in place and agreed changes or correction of defects are conducted documented and monitored
- Have a relevant academic qualification (degree qualified in civil/structural engineering).
- Have Chartered membership of an engineering professional association.
- Have at least five years’ experience of comparable temporary works.
- Have formal Temporary Works Coordinator training.
- Have detailed knowledge of the Contractor’s temporary works procedures and associated processes.
