Testing amp Commissioning Manager PV Inverter Specialist This position is responsible for the technical leadership of inverter system commissioning in large-scale solar PV power plants across projects ensuring safe energization grid-code compliance reliable operation and seamless integration with PPC SCADA and grid infrastructure The role acts as the single technical lead for inverter systems during commissioning and early operation
Core ResponsibilitiesA Engineering amp Pre-Commissioning Phase Review inverter system drawings SLDs protection philosophy control architecture and communication diagrams To provide inputs to Engineering team based on experience with inverters to take care in engineering stage itself components make selection Product Performance related challenges Inverter s limitations based on site experience Power quality aspects
Validate compliance with Local Country grid codes such as KSA DEWA EWEC CEA etc OEM technical limits Project-specific control philosophy
Support FAT review of inverter controls
Prepare inverter commissioning method statements test procedures and risk assessments
B Site Commissioning Execution Lead inverter pre-energization checks DC AC control auxiliary Supervise stepwise energization of Inverter Sensitivity L amp T Construction Internal Use Execute first synchronization and power ramp-up Coordinate inverter commissioning activities with PPC engineer SCADA team Protection amp relay engineers Substation grid utility teams
Ensure inverter configuration aligns with PPC commands
C Grid Compliance amp Performance Validation Execute and support LVRT HVRT ride-through tests Power factor and reactive capability tests Ramp rate and power gradient tests Harmonic and power quality assessment
Support grid acceptance tests and audits Validate inverter operation under existing grid conditions
D Documentation amp Handover Prepare commissioning records test reports parameter backup files Develop inverter O amp M handover documentation and lessons learned Support COD and reliability requirements
Testing Commissioning amp TroubleshootingResponsible for testing and commissioning of grid-connected PV inverters in compliance with IEC 62109-1 2 IEC 61727 IEC 62116 IEC 61000 series UL 1741 amp other relevant standards
Key Commissioning TestsDC insulation resistance string polarity verification AC insulation phase rotation grounding continuity Inverter self-tests and protection validation Communication stability Modbus IEC-104 etc Thermal performance under sustained load
Key Troubleshooting ResponsibilitiesIdentify and resolve Sensitivity L amp T Construction Internal Use Inverter derating under high temperature or grid disturbance
Nuisance trips due to grid voltage frequency fluctuationPPC command mismatchesDC arc fault ground fault events
Transformer RMU interface issues
Root cause analysis using logs oscillography and trend data
Expert knowledge of central and string inverter architectures Strong understanding of grid-interactive inverter control modes Ability to analyze inverter firmware behavior under dynamic grid events Excellent coordination and site leadership skills Strong safety mindset for HV and power electronics systems Bachelor s Degree Electrical / Power Engineering.
12 15 years of solar inverter commissioning experience.
Direct OEM commissioning exposure preferred.
Grid-code compliance testing experience mandatory.
