Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, supporting the design and development of building projects in Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing mechanical designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation, while coordinating closely with internal teams to ensure compliance with Saudi codes, project requirements, and company standards.

A strong Fire & Life Safety (FLS) background is essential for this position. This is a primarily design-focused position, with core responsibilities in mechanical production, documentation, and technical coordination, together with engineering supervision support during the construction phase.

Main Responsibilities:

• Prepare and develop complete mechanical drawing packages - plans, sections, risers, schematics, and details - for HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems across concept, schematic, and detailed design stages.
• Perform design calculations including cooling loads, duct and pipe sizing, ventilation rates, and equipment selection.
• Design fire protection systems - sprinklers, standpipes, fire pump rooms, and smoke control / stairwell pressurisation - including sprinkler hydraulic calculations.
• Produce FLS drawing packages and calculation reports suitable for Saudi Civil Defence submission, in compliance with applicable Saudi codes and project requirements.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, surveying, etc.) to ensure design integration.
• Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and drawings for tender submissions.
• Update designs in response to internal reviews and client feedback.
• Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements for conformity with the approved design.
• Carry out periodic site visits to verify that mechanical and FLS installations follow the design intent, and report non-conformities.
• Witness testing and commissioning of mechanical and fire protection systems, and support Civil Defence inspections and handover.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-10 years of experience in mechanical / MEP building services design within engineering consulting firms.
• Strong FLS design background - sprinkler and standpipe design, hydraulic calculations, fire pump rooms, and smoke control - with working knowledge of NFPA standards (NFPA 13, 14, 20, 92, etc.) and SBC 801.
• Familiarity with Saudi building codes and Civil Defence submittal and inspection requirements.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP (BIM experience preferred).
• Proficiency in mechanical and sprinkler hydraulic calculation software.
• Construction-phase experience - shop drawing review, site inspection, or testing and commissioning - is an advantage.
