Position: SENIOR MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST

Summary

Performs and acts in a lead capacity for a specialized subsection/unit function of a laboratory section.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Organizes workflow and day-to-day operations of the subsection. Ensures all work to be completed and reported promptly. Assigns staff to maximize efficiency and productivity.

Disseminates appropriate information to subordinates. Maintains the computerized Laboratory Information Systems for the subsection.

Ensures that optimum levels of supplies are available to provide uninterrupted services; maintains an ordering and supply inventory system.

Assists in development of new methodologies and the evaluation of new equipment. Updates policy and procedure manuals in accordance with specified guidelines.

Performs analyses, tests, and procedures as per established laboratory standards, maintaining quality control of the subsection. Participates in the Quality Assurance programs of the section. Investigates incident reports and implements associated corrective action.

Maintains equipment repair logs and equipment operation, maintenance, and re‑air records of subsection.

Assists section supervisor in on‑going employee performance appraisal. Counsels subordinates to improve performance.

Orients, trains, provides continuing education, and guides lower graded personnel, other laboratory and healthcare personnel, students, and residents. Assists the section supervisor in evaluation of potential employment candidates. Implements and maintains appropriate laboratory safety procedures and practices.

Performs technical duties as assigned including weekends, night shifts, and on‑call coverage.

Complies with the section policies, procedures and protocols and follows the section quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA and other accreditation agencies standards.

Education

Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences is required.

Experience Required Grade 09

Two (2) years of related experience with Master's or four (4) years with Bachelor's Degree is required.

Grade 10

Four (4) years as Senior Medical Technologist at KFSH&RC or (Grade 09) of related experience is required.
Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
One hundred (100) hours of cumulative continued medical education CME.

Other Requirements (Certificates)

Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCI-IS) is required.
Registration in National Certification Agency, Clinical Special Cytogenetics/American Society of Clinical Pathologists, Clinical Special Cytogenetics for American, registered Medical Technologist for Europe or Australian Institute of Medical Lab Science, Fellow Institute of Medical Lab Sciences for British or Australian Institute of Medical Sciences for Australian or Medical Lab Science for New Zealander, or registered as Medical Technologist in country of origin is required for non‑Saudi.
