Job Title:
Service Now Technical Specialist
Role Definition:
The Service Now Technical Specialist will be responsible for managing the Now Platform, including setup, maintenance, integration, and troubleshooting. In this role, you will also serve as a technical coach for colleagues and ensure that our Service Now platform supports business processes effectively.
Key Responsibilities:Platform Configuration and Development:
- Configure and customize Service Now applications to meet business and process requirements.
- Develop and maintain workflows, Flow Designer flows, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, and script includes.
- Implement forms, tables, fields, notifications, and catalog items in line with Service Now best practices.
- Ensure all configurations are upgrade-safe and aligned with platform standards.
Application Support and Maintenance:
- Provide day-to-day technical support for the Service Now platform and its modules (e.g., ITSM, ITAM, HRSD, CSM).
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues, defects, and performance problems.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor platform health and proactively address technical issues.
Integration and Data Handling:
- Build and support integrations using REST, SOAP, Integration Hub, and MID Server.
- Assist with data imports, transformations, and scheduled jobs.
- Support CMDB data maintenance, CI updates, and reconciliation processes.
- Validate data accuracy and integrity across integrated systems.
Testing, Deployment, and Release Support:
- Participate in testing activities, including unit testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Manage update sets and support deployment across development, test, and production environments.
- Assist with platform upgrades, patching, and regression testing.
- Support CI/CD and source control processes where implemented.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement role-based access controls (RBAC) and access policies as defined by platform governance.
- Ensure configurations comply with organizational security standards and audit requirements.
- Support security reviews and remediate identified issues.
- Follow secure coding and configuration best practices.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:
- Maintain technical documentation for configurations, customizations, and integrations.
- Create and update knowledge articles and technical runbooks.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer to administrators, support teams, and end users.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
- Collaborate with architects, process owners, and business analysts to refine technical solutions.
- Provide technical input during requirement gathering and solution design discussions.
- Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and platform improvements.
- Stay current with Service Now releases, features, and best practices.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience with Service Now administration and development.
