The Transportation Specialist acts as the primary interface between Amazon and our external stakeholder partners such as carriers/transporters, so to our partners- you ARE Amazon. A Trans Rep at RO facilitates the flow of information between different stakeholders (Carriers/Hubs/Warehouses) and resolves any potential issues that impact customer experience and business continuity. The specialists are expected to identify concerns, work on troubleshooting delivery partner issues, and provide process improvement suggestions.
The Transportation Specialist provides timely resolution to the issue in hand by researching and querying internal tools and by taking real-time decisions. An ideal candidate should understand the requirements, be able to analyze data, notice trends, and drive Customer Experience with out compromising on time. The candidate should have a basic understanding of logistics, communicate clearly in written and oral form, ideate process improvements, and have the zeal to drive them to conclusion.
Since they are responsible for shift performance, they lead a team of L2’s in the shift and must display leadership skills to help drive outcomes.
- Communicate with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Business, Planning, Fulfillment Centers, Sort Centres, Delivery stations, etc.) for ad‑hoc cancellations/delays or any other disruptions in the transportation network.
- Systematically escalates problems or variance in information and data to relevant owners and teams and follows through on resolutions to ensure they are delivered.
- Pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL, and/or other data management systems) and perform ad‑hoc reporting and analysis as needed; develop and understand performance metrics to assist with driving business results.
- Effectively communicate in a clear and professional manner at all times and quickly understand the business impact of trends, making decisions based on available data.
- Demonstrate excellent time‑management skills by providing real‑time customer experience in a fast‑paced operating environment; measure and identify activities performed.
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written, including creating narratives outlining weekly findings.
RO (Relay Operations) team is the central command and control center for ‘Transportation Execution’ across the Amazon Supply Chain network supporting India operations. The team deals with the Amazon supply chain network right from First Mile to the Last Mile Delivery Stations. In case of any exceptions, RO steps in to resolve the issue and keeps all stakeholders informed of the proceedings.
Along with tactical problem‑solving, the team also charges with understanding trends in network exceptions and then automating processes or proposing process changes to streamline operations. This second aspect involves network monitoring and analysis of network data.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, statistics.
- Experience with MS Office, in particular MS Excel.
- Experience with SQL.
