Job Purpose:

The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient data pipelines and infrastructure to support data-driven initiatives in SAP data sphere. They will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality data solutions. At higher grades, the Data Engineer will align data architecture with business goals, regulatory requirements, and innovation in data management practices.

Job Responsibilities:

SAP Data Sphere and SAP Analytics Cloud:

Create datasets and implement business logic within data sphere, create visualizations using SAP Analytics cloud
Develop and maintain robust data pipelines to transform raw data into usable formats for analytics and reporting
Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes optimized for scalability and performance
Collaborate with data architects and analysts to build data models and integrate diverse data sources across systems

Data Storage & Optimization:

Design and optimize data storage solutions, such as data lakes, warehouses, and cloud-based systems

Data Quality & Governance:

Ensure data quality and accuracy through testing, validation, and monitoring
Implement and maintain data governance policies to ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations

Data Analytics & Machine Learning (Senior Grades):

Collaborate with data scientists on analytics and machine learning models, providing structured data solutions

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

Partner with internal teams like Technology, data science, and business intelligence to align data solutions with organizational goals
Engage with external vendors and data providers for integration and tool selection
Promote innovation in data practices and continuously improve data systems and processes

Qualification and

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
8-10 years of experience, with proven ability to lead data engineering projects and teams
Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning techniques

Skills:

Strong proficiency in SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is essential
Strong proficiency in SAP S/4, SAP Ariba and SAP Success Factors is essential
A solid understanding of SAP BW or any data warehouse solution is essential
Knowledge of SAP HANA and SAP BTP is highly advantageous
Expertise in SQL, Python, and data engineering tools
Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
Attention to detail and continuous learning mindset
Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations (explicit for all levels)
Leadership and project management skills for senior and director grades
