Job Description & How to Apply Below
Overview
A reputable financial technology company is seeking a high-caliber Solutions Engineer to own the functional backbone of its client implementations. The role sits at the intersection of business analysis and functional engineering, translating client needs into what the platform can deliver and making it happen. This is not a sales or a purely technical role; it is the functional backbone of the company s delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Analysis & Solution Design:
- Work closely with clients to gather, structure and validate business and functional requirements before any delivery activity begins.
- Map client requirements to the platform s capabilities, identifying what is supported natively, what requires configuration, and what represents a genuine gap.
- Draft and own the Business Solution Document (BSD) including platform configurations, workflow definitions and integration specifications, and get it signed off by all relevant stakeholders.
- Develop deep functional knowledge of at least one of the platform s core modules: payments, collections, disbursements, cards, lending, wallets or open banking, and grow that coverage over time.
Platform Configuration & Functional Engineering:
- Own the configuration of the platform for each client implementation, translating approved BSDs into live, working system setups.
- Conduct and assess hygiene testing on the initial environment provided by the internal quality team, approve configurations and manage handover to the client.
- Validate that configured environments meet agreed functional requirements before any client-facing demonstration or UAT session.
- Support SIT, UAT and client demos, prepare and run functional demonstrations for the client, support the client throughout UAT, and help triage, track and close defects.
Gap Management & Engineering Coordination:
- Proactively identify gaps between client requirements and current platform capabilities, and document them clearly with business impact and proposed resolution.
- Coordinate with the Product and Engineering teams to communicate gaps, agree on feasibility, and track resolution through to delivery.
- Act as the functional bridge between client-facing delivery and internal engineering, translating business language into technical context and vice versa.
Client Expectation & Stakeholder Management:
- Set clear, honest expectations with clients on platform capabilities, articulating what the system can do out of the box, what requires configuration effort, and what is outside current scope.
- Present solution designs and BSD outcomes to client stakeholders, walking them through functional decisions and configuration rationale.
- Manage client-side functional queries throughout the implementation lifecycle, maintaining confidence and clarity at every stage.
Experience & Background:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business or a related field.
- 4–7 years in a functional consulting, solutions engineering, business analysis or implementation role within fintech, banking technology or enterprise software.
- Hands-on functional experience with the lending module (loans or cards) is required.
- Hands-on experience writing Business Solution Documents or Functional Specifications; you know how to produce a document that engineering can build from and clients can sign off on.
Functional & Technical
Skills:
- Solid functional understanding of at least one financial services domain: payment rails, collections, disbursements, reconciliation, card issuing or lending workflows.
- Ability to read and interpret API documentation; you can trace integration flows, spot mismatches and flag technical risks without needing an engineer to translate.
- Comfort working across both business and technical domains; you can run a requirements workshop with a client s operations team in the morning and a gap review with engineers in the afternoon.
- Systematic approach to gap analysis; you identify what is missing, document it precisely, assess the impact, and drive it to resolution.
Expert in Tools:
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint): for BSDs, configuration specs, trackers and client presentations.
