Job Title: Senior General Insurance Specialist

Role

Purpose:

The Sr. General Insurance Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating general insurance activities, ensuring effective administration of insurance policies, claims, renewals, and related requirements. The role coordinates with insurance companies, brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate coverage, timely resolution of insurance matters, accurate documentation, and compliance with approved policies and procedures

Key Activities:

Manage and coordinate general insurance policies and related activities.
Monitor policy coverage, validity, renewals, and required documentation.
Ensure accurate maintenance of insurance records and policy information.
Review policy requirements and coordinate necessary updates or amendments.
Ensure timely completion of insurance-related activities in accordance with approved procedures.
Monitor insurance portfolio utilization, policy renewal schedules, and coverage adequacy to ensure continuous protection and compliance.
Coordinate with insurance companies, brokers, and other relevant parties on policy and coverage requirements.
Follow up on quotations, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and outstanding matters.
Review insurance-related correspondence and documentation.
Support evaluation of insurance proposals and service arrangements when required.
Participate in insurance market benchmarking, policy renewal negotiations, and insurer performance evaluations.
Coordinate and monitor insurance claims from submission through resolution.
Review claim documentation and ensure completeness of supporting information.
Follow up with insurers, brokers, and relevant internal stakeholders on outstanding claims.
Support the resolution of complex or escalated claims and insurance-related issues.
Maintain accurate records of claims and their status.
Monitor claims cycle times, settlement status, and claims recovery performance to ensure timely claim closure.
Track claims trends and recurring incidents to support loss prevention and risk mitigation initiatives
Ensure insurance activities comply with approved company policies, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
Identify insurance coverage gaps, risks, and outstanding requirements and escape them when appropriate.
Prepare insurance reports and updates for management.
Maintain accurate documentation for audit and management purposes.
Monitor policy and claims data to identify trends and areas requiring attention.
Identify opportunities to improve insurance processes, controls, and service efficiency.
Provide recommendations regarding insurance coverage, claims, and policy administration.
Support insurance renewal and review activities.
Provide guidance to junior team members on insurance processes and procedures.
Support management with insurance-related analysis and recommendations.

Necessary Knowledge and

Experience:

Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in general insurance, insurance administration, claims management, risk management, or a related field.
Strong experience in managing general insurance policies and related documentation.
Experience in insurance claims management and follow-up.
Experience coordinating with insurance companies, brokers, and other insurance service providers.
Good knowledge of insurance coverage, policy terms, renewals, endorsements, and claims processes.
Experience in insurance reporting, documentation, and compliance.
Experience handling complex insurance matters and providing support to internal stakeholders.
Experience providing guidance and support to junior team members.

Education and Certification

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certification in Insurance, Risk Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
Strong knowledge of general insurance policies, coverage, and claims management.
Strong skills in insurance policy administration and renewal processes.
Ability to manage and resolve complex insurance and claims-related matters.
Good understanding of insurance risk, compliance, and contractual requirements.
