• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the complete system related to wayside and vehicles, maintenance‑of‑way equipment, and all related equipment.
• Operate the system from the Operation Control Center (OCC) and perform recovery/restorative actions on the mainline or in the yard.
• Support day‑to‑day customer service through effective communication, maintaining balanced headways, building up and reducing trains for revenue service, and utilizing emergency and failure management strategies.
• Execute corrective and preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and adjustments on all electronic, mechanical, electro‑mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, subsystems, and components.
• Troubleshoot complex systems and components to identify problems or failures; use electronic test equipment to diagnose and isolate faults.
• Install and repair complex wiring assemblies and conduct modifications.
• Assist in the development of procedures or improvements for periodic inspection, repairs, maintenance, and schedules to reduce out‑of‑service time.
• Create drawings, specs, schematics and other instructions for lower‑classified personnel; develop training courses.
• Help develop vehicle maintenance schedules and priorities.
• Know and utilize safe work procedures, ensuring a safe work environment; report unsafe conditions and lead the development of safe work area procedures for new tasks.
• Use the Site Information Management System, Central Control, and all related communication interface panels and process control systems.
• Perform system and vehicle recovery for electronic, electro‑mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and handle wayside (train control, traction power, communication) systems.
• Through interaction with the ATC system, manage the assembly of rail vehicle consists and ensure correctly configured scheduled trains are available for movement into customer service.
• Through interaction with ATC, ATP and communication systems, implement and coordinate contingency plans during service disruptions and emergencies to minimize delays.
• Manage power configuration through interaction with the PDS system during normal service or maintenance and emergency activities.
• Monitor platforms, stations, intrusion alarms, customer activity, and other systems that affect customer service through the communications and CCTV systems.
• Work variable hours and shifts as needed for coverage; proficient with the function, recovery and reboot procedures of all Central Control equipment.
