The Project Manager provides the leadership structure that keeps complex projects commercially controlled, technically coordinated, and aligned with client objectives. The position oversees the complete delivery lifecycle and establishes clear baselines for scope, programme, cost, resources, quality, and stakeholder commitments. Success requires more than maintaining schedules. The Project Manager must anticipate delivery pressures, interpret performance data, resolve competing priorities, manage change, and ensure decisions are documented and communicated across multidisciplinary teams.
As the principal interface for clients and key stakeholders, the role also carries responsibility for maintaining confidence in project performance while developing team capability and identifying opportunities for stronger future client engagement.
- Direct projects through planning, design, execution, monitoring, handover, and formal close-out.
- Establish detailed project scopes, objectives, deliverables, budgets, schedules, resource requirements, and performance baselines.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate responsibilities across engineering, design, commercial, technical, and operational functions.
- Monitor programme performance and intervene when cost, schedule, quality, or resource indicators move outside approved targets.
- Analyze project data and implement corrective or recovery measures where performance requires improvement.
- Maintain control of project scope and ensure proposed changes follow established assessment, approval, and documentation processes.
- Identify technical, commercial, programme, stakeholder, and delivery risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop mitigation measures and maintain appropriate risk management actions to strengthen project resilience.
- Control project budgets and monitor expenditure, forecasts, commitments, and emerging cost pressures.
- Coordinate resource allocation to ensure project teams have appropriate capability and capacity at critical delivery stages.
- Manage vendors, consultants, contractors, and other external partners against contractual and performance requirements.
- Support contract administration and address supplier or contractor performance concerns before they affect major milestones.
- Ensure project deliverables comply with relevant codes, regulations, quality requirements, client standards, and approved procedures.
- Act as the primary project contact for clients and maintain clear communication regarding progress, decisions, risks, changes, and priorities.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and establish practical routes for resolving issues that involve multiple parties.
- Facilitate project meetings, management reviews, decision forums, and performance discussions.
- Maintain transparent records of key decisions, approvals, changes, commitments, and stakeholder actions.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to project personnel while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
- Review team performance and support the professional development of project managers and other delivery personnel.
- Apply structured risk, change, and scope management methodologies appropriate to project complexity.
- Coordinate regulatory, permitting, and compliance activities that influence project delivery.
- Capture lessons learned and convert project experience into practical improvements for future assignments.
- Support client engagement, proposal preparation, market research, and other business development activities.
- Contribute project delivery knowledge to pursuits and proposals where relevant experience strengthens the commercial offering.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline and bring at least 15 years of professional project management experience with progressively greater responsibility for complex assignments.
