Executive Director – Business Control & Commercial Finance

On behalf of our client, MRG Global is seeking a senior finance and commercial leader to take responsibility for a broad business control function within a large, complex real estate and destination environment.

The role combines operational finance, commercial management, governance, procurement, contracts, risk and business performance. It will suit someone who has worked directly with operational leadership teams and has held responsibility across several of these areas, rather than within a single finance specialism.

The Executive Director will act as the principal link between the operating business and central corporate functions, ensuring that commercial decisions, operating models and day‑to‑day activity are supported by strong financial discipline, effective controls and practical governance.

You will lead a multidisciplinary function covering financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and cost control, alongside procurement, contract management, governance, risk and commercial controls.

Working closely with senior operational leaders, you will:

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and cost control across a complex operating environment.
• Oversee invoicing, intercompany charging, service charge management and cost recovery.
• Drive cost efficiency and commercial performance initiatives with business leaders.
• Review contracts, resourcing models and supplier arrangements to ensure they remain commercially effective.
• Lead procurement and contract management activity, including sourcing, approvals, vendor performance and contract lifecycle management.
• Establish and maintain governance frameworks, policies, controls, delegated authorities and management forums.
• Coordinate risk, compliance, audit and business continuity requirements.
• Work closely with central Finance, Procurement, Legal, Risk and Compliance teams.
• Improve business processes and controls as the organisation scales.
• Lead and develop a team spanning finance, commercial management, governance and control.

We are looking for an established senior leader with approximately 15 years’ relevant leadership experience, including significant responsibility within operational finance, commercial finance, business control or a similarly broad function.

You should have direct experience of:

• Leading finance within an operational business environment.
• Budgeting, forecasting, reporting and cost management at significant scale.
• Working closely with operational leaders as a senior business partner.
• Procurement and contract management.
• Commercial controls and vendor performance.
• Governance, risk, audit and compliance frameworks.
• Managing multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder groups.

Experience with in real estate, mixed‑use developments, hospitality, major destinations, infrastructure, facilities‑intensive estates or another large operational environment would be particularly relevant.

Profiles built predominantly around statutory accounting, treasury, corporate finance, audit, procurement or contract management alone are unlikely to match the breadth of the position.

The role requires someone comfortable operating at executive level, challenging senior stakeholders, improving commercial performance and bringing structure to a complex operating environment.
