Fiber Laser Production Engineer

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and sketches to understand job requirements.
• Set up and calibrate laser cutting machines based on job specifications.
• Select appropriate machine parameters (gas, lens, and nozzle) for each cut.
• Perform nesting to optimize material use and reduce scrap and downtime.
• Monitor machines during cutting to ensure optimal operation.
• Schedule production jobs according to priority.
• Troubleshoot technical or machine issues as they occur. Conduct routine maintenance on machines and auxiliary devices, including the laser source, chiller, compressor, and gas cylinders.
• Ensure finished products meet quality standards and specifications.
• Maintain tools and equipment using the 5S methodology.
  
  Uphold a safe work environment and follow safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  
  Participate in the training of co-op students and junior staff.

• Vocational diploma, but an Industrial Technical degree or certification is strongly preferred
• 5+ Years experience as Fibre Laser machine operator and programmer (Tube / Sheet)
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and design sketches.
• Knowledge of laser cutting procedures and safety standards.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor, and nesting software.
• Physically fit and with high stamina and ability.
• Laser Engraving experience is a plus.
• CNC Bending and other sheet metal fabrication experience are a plus.
