Job Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all construction steel fabrication and erection activities are executed in compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, inspection requirements, and client consultant requirements. The role involves conducting inspections, preparing quality documentation, coordinating with site teams, and ensuring all works meet project quality objectives.
Key Responsibilities Quality Control – Inspection- Monitor and inspect site activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Conduct incoming material inspections and verify compliance with approved Material Inspection Requests (MIR).
- Perform stage-wise and final inspections for structural steel erection, welding, bolting, painting, and installation activities.
- Ensure all work is executed according to approved Method Statements, ITPs, and project quality procedures.
- Coordinate and attend inspections with clients, consultants, and third‑party inspectors.
- Prepare and submit Inspection Requests (IR), WIRs, and MIRs.
- Maintain quality records, inspection reports, checklists, and test certificates.
- Review material test certificates, calibration certificates, and welding records.
- Ensure proper filing and control of all QA/QC documentation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
- Identify quality issues and raise Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) when required.
- Follow up on corrective and preventive actions until closure.
- Monitor quality deviations and ensure implementation of corrective measures.
- Participate in root cause analysis and quality improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with Project Engineers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, and subcontractors to resolve quality‑related issues.
- Liaise with consultants and clients regarding inspection schedules and approvals.
- Support project teams in achieving project quality objectives and milestones.
- Ensure inspection and testing activities are carried out as per approved Inspection Test Plans (ITP).
- Verify welding inspections, bolt torque inspections, coating inspections, and dimensional checks.
- Monitor third‑party testing activities and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international standards such as ASTM, AISC, AWS, ISO, and project specifications.
- Ensure quality inspections are conducted in compliance with project HSE requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions and quality risks affecting project execution.
- Participate in site quality and safety meetings.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- QA/QC certifications preferred (CSWIP, AWS, BGAS, NACE, or equivalent).
