Job Description Overview
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a material inspector who has experience in inspecting, sampling, and testing roadwork materials to ensure compliance with specifications and standards. The role controls material traceability, storage, acceptance, and documentation.
Responsibilities- Inspect incoming materials (aggregates, asphalt, concrete, steel, geotextiles) against approvals.
- Witness field and laboratory tests including sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, compaction/density, slump, cube tests, and Marshall tests.
- Verify batch tickets, delivery notes, mill certificates, and calibration certificates.
- Monitor storage, segregation, and protection of materials onsite.
- Check asphalt mix temperature, gradation, and binder content during paving.
- Ensure conformance to ITPs, MS, and PQP; raise NCRs and follow corrective actions.
- Maintain lot‑wise material acceptance records and traceability.
- Coordinate with third‑party labs and QA/QC on test schedules and results.
- Solid knowledge of ASTM, BS, and EN testing methods.
- Hands‑on experience with lab and field equipment and acceptance criteria.
- Strong documentation and report‑writing skills.
- Understanding of asphalt plant QC and concrete batching.
