The Quality Engineer will provide dedicated QA/QC oversight for complex MEP installations within major building and high-rise construction activities. The position will ensure that mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-current systems are installed, inspected, tested, documented, and handed over in accordance with approved project requirements. The role will work closely with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, engineering disciplines, and project management teams to prevent quality failures before they affect progress.
Strong inspection discipline, traceable documentation, and effective corrective action management will help reduce rework, improve installation reliability, and maintain consistent project quality.
- Implement and maintain site-based quality assurance and quality control systems for MEP construction activities.
- Monitor mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-current installations for compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and Inspection and Test Plans.
- Conduct routine inspections of materials, equipment, workmanship, and construction processes.
- Verify installation quality against applicable ASTM, BS, ISO, and project-specific technical requirements.
- Review method statements before construction activities begin and confirm that quality controls are clearly defined.
- Assess Inspection and Test Plans for completeness, appropriate hold points, witness points, and verification requirements.
- Review material submittals to confirm compliance with approved technical specifications and quality requirements.
- Evaluate shop drawings and coordination drawings from a quality and constructability perspective.
- Coordinate with civil and architectural disciplines where MEP installations interface with structural or finishing works.
- Perform inspections before concealment of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations.
- Witness testing activities and verify that test procedures, equipment, and acceptance criteria are appropriate.
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain complete records of inspection outcomes.
- Issue Non-Conformance Reports where installations, materials, or procedures do not comply with project requirements.
- Track corrective and preventive actions until satisfactory technical closure.
- Verify completed rectification work before closing quality observations or non-conformances.
- Coordinate closely with contractors and subcontractors to clarify inspection requirements and quality expectations.
- Identify recurring quality deficiencies and recommend preventive measures to reduce repetition.
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of the project Quality Management System.
- Contribute to project quality plans, procedures, forms, inspection workflows, and supporting documentation.
- Support compliance with ISO 9001 quality management principles and related applicable standards.
- Participate in internal quality audits and assist with preparation of supporting evidence.
- Support external audits conducted by clients, consultants, certification bodies, or project stakeholders.
- Identify audit gaps and follow agreed corrective actions through completion.
- Maintain traceability of material certificates, inspection requests, test reports, approvals, and quality correspondence.
- Ensure quality records are correctly filed, controlled, and available throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support preparation of completion dossiers and final MEP quality documentation.
- Deliver QA/QC awareness sessions to project personnel and construction teams.
- Explain inspection procedures, documentation standards, and quality responsibilities to site staff.
- Monitor contractor implementation of approved quality procedures throughout construction.
