Role Context

The Senior Quality Specialist will extend project quality control beyond the construction site into supplier and manufacturer facilities. The position will provide assurance that critical equipment and materials are manufactured, inspected, tested, documented, and released in accordance with approved specifications before entering the project supply chain. Using equipment criticality, manufacturing complexity, delivery schedules, and supplier performance data, the specialist will establish risk‑based surveillance priorities and inspection requirements.

Close coordination with Procurement, Engineering, Logistics, Construction, third‑party inspectors, manufacturers, and project leadership will help prevent manufacturing defects and incomplete documentation from becoming site delays or operational risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead supplier and vendor quality assurance activities covering critical materials, equipment, and manufactured products.
  • Develop risk‑based supplier surveillance and inspection strategies aligned with procurement and project requirements.
  • Review supplier Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, manufacturing procedures, inspection procedures, and supporting quality documentation.
  • Assess supplier Quality Management Systems, certifications, manufacturing capabilities, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Review technical and quality submissions received from manufacturers and specialist vendors.
  • Monitor manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, testing, finishing, and inspection activities at supplier facilities.
  • Establish appropriate Hold Points, Witness Points, surveillance levels, and source inspection requirements according to equipment criticality.
  • Coordinate source inspections with suppliers, manufacturers, contractors, third‑party inspectors, and project representatives.
  • Review Material Inspection Requests, Inspection Release Notes, test certificates, inspection reports, and manufacturing records.
  • Verify compliance with approved drawings, material specifications, codes, standards, and approved manufacturer requirements.
  • Confirm traceability of materials, components, equipment, manufacturing records, and associated certification.
  • Verify calibration status and suitability of measuring, inspection, and testing equipment used during manufacturing.
  • Monitor welding, fabrication, coating, painting, assembly, and other manufacturing processes when applicable.
  • Ensure deviations, concessions, substitutions, and departures from approved requirements receive formal review and authorization.
  • Coordinate Factory Acceptance Tests, performance tests, functional tests, and pre‑shipment inspections.
  • Witness or arrange hydrostatic, pressure, electrical, mechanical, dimensional, material, coating, welding, and NDT inspections where required.
  • Review test results against specified acceptance criteria and investigate unsuccessful inspections or tests.
