Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will support a research initiative focused on developing mix designs for mortars, concrete, and earth-based materials utilized in 3D printing technologies. Duties include participating in interdisciplinary research related to innovative and sustainable materials, and restoration of historic structures. The position supports the laboratory’s objectives by incorporating artificial intelligence, device development, computational modeling, and micro- and nano-scale material assessment to address practical needs in the construction sector.

• Produces high-quality publications and delivers presentations at national or international conferences to disseminate findings and enhance scientific impact.
• Contributes to interdisciplinary research initiatives that align with the lab’s and institution’s strategic goals, fostering collaboration across fields to address complex challenges.
• Participates in the preparation of research proposals for external funding and supports reporting to ensure sustained project resources and compliance with grant requirements.
• Designs, conducts, and analyzes experimental or computational research to generate valid, reproducible results across relevant scientific and engineering domains.
• Develops and prototypes research tools, systems, or devices, ensuring accuracy, usability, and innovation to advance experimental capabilities.
• Build and refine computational models or experimental systems that support data-driven investigations and contribute to knowledge advancement.
• Contributes to the preparation and dissemination of research findings through publications, reports, and presentations to communicate effectively to scientific and professional audiences.
• Supports the development of software, algorithms, or analytical methods applicable to ongoing research projects to enhance data analysis and modeling capabilities.
• Maintains research documentation and data in a professional, organized, and secure manner to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and compliance with data management standards.
• Collaborates in the optimization of 3D printing parameters and material mix designs to enhance the mechanical performance, durability, and sustainability of printed construction elements.
• Mentors students in research methodologies, experimental design, and data analysis to support academic development and advance the laboratory.
• Performs all duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.
• Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by the manager.

• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Material science, Construction materials, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.

• Minimum of five years of research experience supporting or conducting projects involving experimental, computational, or analytical work in engineering, or related fields.
