Role Context The Area Sales Manager
- Fashion Retail will take responsibility for the commercial, operational, and people performance of multiple stores across one or more assigned brands. The role requires strong control over sales, profitability, customer service, staffing, stock, visual standards, marketing execution, and compliance while maintaining close communication with senior management and brand teams. The position will use store-level and area-wide data to identify performance gaps, prioritize corrective actions, and improve business results.
Strong leadership across multiple locations will be essential to building consistent service standards, developing capable store managers, controlling costs, and maintaining sustainable growth.
- Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple fashion retail stores within the assigned area.
- Ensure stores follow approved opening, closing, operational, service, and administrative procedures.
- Delegate responsibilities to Store Managers and monitor completion against business priorities.
- Enforce company SOPs, policies, procedures, and loss prevention requirements across all assigned locations.
- Introduce practical measures to improve compliance where operational gaps are identified.
- Interpret store conditions, customer requirements, and brand expectations when making operational and visual decisions.
- Act as the primary coordination point between store operations and Brand Teams.
- Ensure business initiatives, marketing campaigns, promotions, and brand strategies are implemented consistently across stores.
- Monitor sales and commercial performance using key retail indicators.
- Review Units per Transaction, Average Transaction Value, monthly sales, sales per square foot, turnover, conversion, and shrinkage.
- Analyze P and L and EBITDA performance to identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Review financial reports and translate findings into clear operational actions.
- Manage store budgets, expenses, and area-level cost performance.
- Introduce cost-saving initiatives without compromising customer experience or brand standards.
- Establish customer service expectations and coach store leadership on consistent execution.
- Conduct regular store visits to evaluate service quality, store standards, and operational performance.
- Work with Store Managers to address customer feedback and improve the overall shopping experience.
- Monitor consumer behavior, market developments, competitor activity, and retail trends.
- Use market insights to identify growth opportunities within the assigned territory.
- Develop area-specific sales and marketing initiatives designed to increase traffic and revenue.
- Provide senior management with clear updates on store performance, issues, and area-wide priorities.
- Communicate business drivers, merchandising concerns, product quality issues, and operational findings to relevant teams.
- Prepare detailed performance reports covering achievements, challenges, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Support recruitment of store employees according to business and brand requirements.
- Ensure staff receive appropriate training in sales, customer service, teamwork, and professional conduct.
- Evaluate employee performance and support annual review processes.
- Coach and motivate Store Managers and other employees to improve accountability and results.
- Identify additional learning requirements where performance indicates a capability gap.
- Build a positive work environment that supports collaboration, innovation, and employee development.
- Develop succession plans and maintain a pipeline of potential candidates for key store leadership positions.
- Coordinate inventory, promotions, merchandising, and campaign execution across the assigned stores.
