The Datacenter Security Team provides physical security solutions to protect AWS personnel, facilities, and customer information.
The Cluster Security Manager (CSM) role is a forward‑thinking, results‑oriented, innovative and inspirational leadership position. The AWS Datacenter Operations Physical Security team is looking for a leader who can develop strategy, execute, and lead data center security operations across multiple sites.
As a Cluster Security Manager, you will implement and verify compliance with security procedures, standards and policies while optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of physical security at our facilities. You will champion new initiatives, oversee implementation, and coordinate with multiple business partner teams. You will lead cross‑functional teams, write security strategies, drive processes to achieve industry‑leading security, and reduce costs through process improvement and technology enhancement.
You will operate with autonomy and discretion, requiring significant creativity and judgment. The ideal candidate is confident, decisive, influential, and an innovative leader who can communicate compelling outcomes. You will have the presence and influence to define and enforce high standards, implement and monitor programs at all levels, define structure in ambiguous environments, and deliver on the physical security mission while balancing cost, efficiency, and operational challenges.
Responsibilities- Build trust, establish and maintain customer relationships with data center business partners to execute a comprehensive security strategy that enhances security and enables partners to build customer capacity.
- Plan, develop, and implement security plans and programs such as Emergency Response, Crisis Management, Physical Security, and Incident Management, coordinating site investigations with the Global Intelligence and Investigative team.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of complex industry trends, current security issues, and security technology, updating management on risks and threats to AWS employees and infrastructure.
- Perform continual risk analysis for data center sites, focusing on crime, terrorism, workplace violence, and threats from natural and man‑made disasters.
- Provide leadership and best practices on security policy and practices to on‑site data center management.
- Identify vulnerabilities early and design and implement strategies to close existing or emerging security gaps.
- Provide leadership and clear guidance to AWS Data Center staff and contract security staff to achieve current and long‑range strategic security program objectives.
- Support regional and global security leadership in investigating significant threats and the loss or misappropriation of assets.
- Develop and implement security standards and procedures for all contract site security coordinators.
- Liaise with local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies for the locations of the Data Centers.
- Travel approximately 25% domestically and internationally.
This role requires the ability to adapt to a dynamic operational environment, driven by changing customer requirements, schedule changes, security vendor commitments, and evolving security threats. The incumbent must work at pace, adjust priorities, and apply established knowledge of physical security while understanding the confluence and interplay between physical and logical data protection. Must interact with demanding customers and meet short‑notice customer‑driven deadlines.
BasicQualifications
- 10+ years of physical security experience
- 5+ years of security management experience
- 5+ years of leadership role experience
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Speak, write, and read fluently in Arabic
- Position open to Saudi Nationals only
- Experience in a leadership role
- Experience in security management
- Experience managing a team of individual contributors
