The Senior Software Engineer owns the application layer across company. This includes the design, development, integration, support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of internally developed applications, together with technical ownership of how vendor-purchased applications integrate with the organization’s digital ecosystem.
The role operates within an AI-first engineering model in which applications are developed using AI-assisted and agentic coding tools. The candidate must be able to guide agentic development workflows and independently review, validate, secure, test, maintain, and extend applications and code produced partially or fully by AI coding agents. The role works closely with the Data Engineer, Data Analyst, vendors, business stakeholders, and end users to deliver secure, reliable, maintainable, and well-adopted software solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Application Architecture & Software Engineering
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, responsive business applications using modern software engineering practices.
- Develop front-end experiences using React, Next.js, Type Script, or comparable modern frameworks, and back-end services using Node.js / Type Script, .NET, or an equivalent modern stack.
- Own the full application lifecycle, from discovery and architecture through development, testing, deployment, monitoring, support, enhancement, and retirement.
- Define reusable architecture patterns, shared components, coding standards, and development conventions across the application estate.
- Design applications for maintainability, performance, accessibility, responsive use, and clear separation of concerns.
Custom Application Ownership, Maintenance & User Enablement
- Act as the primary technical owner for all custom-made and internally developed applications across company
- Maintain production applications through enhancements, defect resolution, dependency upgrades, performance optimization, security remediation, and ongoing technical support.
- Monitor application availability, errors, performance, usage, and security signals, and resolve issues within agreed support priorities.
- Provide end-user onboarding, demonstrations, and training for software created internally, both at golive and as applications evolve.
- Create and maintain user guides, training materials, release notes, support procedures, technical documentation, and knowledge-base content.
- Gather user feedback, assess adoption, and translate recurring support needs into product improvements.
Enterprise & Vendor-Purchased Applications
- Take technical ownership of vendor-purchased applications used by the company, with particular responsibility for how they connect to internal applications, data, identity, workflows, and reporting.
- Assess vendor application capabilities, APIs, data structures, authentication methods, extensibility, and technical constraints before and during implementation.
- Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to configure integrations, resolve technical issues, coordinate upgrades, and evaluate the impact of vendor changes on the wider application estate.
- Maintain clear technical documentation for vendor applications, interfaces, dependencies, ownership, support paths, and recovery procedures.
- Ensure vendor solutions align with company’s architecture, security, access-control, data-residency, and maintainability requirements.
Systems Integration & APIs
- Design, develop, test, and support integrations between internally developed applications, vendor systems, enterprise platforms, cloud services, databases, and APIs.
- Develop secure, documented, reusable REST APIs, business services, background processes, and data exchange mechanisms.
