The Rosemary Power Station is a sophisticated combined‑cycle facility with a capacity of 160 megawatts (MW), combining oil‑fired combustion turbines with a steam turbine to deliver reliable electricity while minimizing environmental impact.

Opportunity Summary

The IC&E Technician ensures efficient and reliable plant operation by calibrating, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment. The role requires strict adherence to safety protocols and collaboration with multiple departments to install new equipment, document maintenance activities, and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities
  • Calibrate, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and install all power plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical systems, including control valves, variable speed drives, motors, battery chargers, inverters, transmitters, analyzers, and equipment specific to natural gas‑fired combined cycle plants.
  • Perform corrective, preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance on electrical systems including 13.8 kV and 4160‑V switch gear, motors, control centers, transformers, batteries, inverters, chargers, and main generator and excitation equipment.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Allen‑Bradley PLC systems; collaborate with engineers to enhance PLC logic.
  • Coordinate with other departments to achieve efficient maintenance operations and minimize plant downtime.
  • Install new equipment and modifications, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Maintain, clean, and properly store shop equipment and specialized tools for instrumentation and electrical maintenance.
  • Keep detailed logs and records of problems, repairs, downtime, and updates to plant drawings, databases, vendor information, and calibration data.
  • Identify hazards promptly and implement repairs to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist the Plant Engineer in performing and evaluating plant tests related to turbine controls, combustion control processes, and boiler control systems.
  • Collaborate with outside contractors during overhauls, providing technical guidance and oversight.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous waste products such as batteries and fluorescent bulbs in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support efficient plant operation.
  • Use the Maintenance Management System (MMS) – SAP – to maintain historical repair and preventive maintenance records.
Safety

All employees must remain mentally alert, work safely, and follow all NAES safety rules and procedures. Safety compliance is a key component of performance evaluation.

Working Relationships

The IC&E Technician reports directly to the Plant Manager and coordinates with all other plant personnel.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Stand for extended periods, climb stairs and ladders, work from elevated platforms, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate in a power plant environment that may involve confined spaces, narrow areas, hazardous materials, fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Protective gear – hard hats, safety glasses, eye protection, air masks or respirators, ear protection, flame‑resistant clothing, gloves, high‑voltage gear, and fall protection – may be required.

Fit testing for respirators may be required, and strict smoking restrictions apply.

Fitness for Duty

All personnel participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, including a post‑offer physical examination, drug screening, and periodic post‑employment drug screening.

Work Schedule

Standard Monday to Friday day shift, with occasional extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, and on‑call status as needed.

Compensation

Base pay range from $42.23 to $51.50 per hour plus an annual performance bonus.

Qualifications and Technical Competencies
  • High school diploma (four years). Associate degree in power plant technology, related technical field, or engineering preferred; industry or military experience may substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis.
