As a Sheet Metal Estimator, you are the technical architect of our project success. You won’t just be crunching numbers; you will be visualizing the entire lifecycle of a build from the first set of blueprints to the final installation. In this role, you will bridge the gap between design and reality, working closely with our fabrication shop, project managers, and external vendors to ensure every bid is as precise as our ductwork.
You will spend your days interpreting complex specifications, identifying potential hurdles before they reach the field, and building the financial foundation for some of the region’s most significant commercial and industrial developments. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys the puzzle of a large-scale takeoff and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define project scope and requirements.
- Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs for sheet metal ductwork, fittings, equipment, and related components.
- Prepare detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work to support competitive bid proposals.
- Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) while obtaining and evaluating pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Identify potential scope gaps, discrepancies, and constructability concerns to mitigate project cost risks.
- Coordinate with project management and operations teams to clarify requirements and ensure successful project handoffs.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in sheet metal, HVAC, mechanical construction, or estimating.
- Proven ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) and a high level of comfort learning specialized estimating software.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple bidding deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and commercial HVAC installation methods is highly preferred.
