School of BTT Electrical Wiring Adjunct Faculty (Part‑Time)
Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for part‑time Electrical Wiring Adjunct Faculty in the School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT). Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis as needed.
BackgroundVirginia Western Community College is a two‑year public institution located on a 70‑acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The College serves the Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County areas and enrolls over 9,000 students annually.
Responsibilities- Teach college‑level Electrical Wiring courses in person on the main campus, and in hybrid or distance‑learning formats, including Home Electric Power, Practical Electricity I‑II, and National Electric Code.
- Prepare syllabi, exams, and learning materials; develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments.
- Maintain currency in the electrical discipline and keep abreast of trends in community‑college education.
- Participate actively in departmental communications and student support activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of occupational experience in the electrical field.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to write syllabi and exams, develop learning strategies and curriculum, and work with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Additional consideration for those holding a Master Electrician license.
