Instructor Prelicensure Clinical - Roanoke, Virginia
Western Governors University is seeking a part‑time, on‑site Clinical Instructor in Roanoke, Virginia. The role involves teaching and mentoring nursing students in experiential clinical coursework.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate commitment, effectiveness, and consistency as a faculty steward of WGU’s mission.
- Serve as a professional role model in communication, ethical comportment, and problem‑solving.
- Provide expertise in an assigned content area and maintain current knowledge in the field.
- Foster student learning through innovative teaching practices, including clinical instruction.
- Respond promptly to meet student needs and communicate professionally with all members of the WGU community.
- Make appropriate student referrals for remediation or other needs, utilizing WGU policies and procedures.
- Communicate with the assigned coach/preceptor to discuss student progress and concerns.
- Provide final review and approval for student clinical time.
- Offer proactive support and outreach to assigned students.
- Use technology‑based teaching and communication platforms to aid student development of competencies.
- Submit electronic clinical student evaluation form(s) after completion of clinical intensive.
- Collaborate with other professionals within the university to promote a positive, student‑obsessed atmosphere.
- Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of relevant state regulations.
- Conduct both in‑person and remote methods of student evaluation.
- Master’s degree in nursing; education is verified.
- Two years minimum nursing experience.
- Unencumbered RN license and active license in the designated state.
- State and federal legislative requirements and college accreditation requirements may apply to maintain the necessary credentialing for this role.
- Doctorate or terminal degree in a specific content area.
- Strong experience with distance education and distance learning students.
- Terminal degree and all applicable licenses or certifications.
- Prior experience in clinical teaching/nursing education.
Hourly, bi‑weekly. Pay range $37.64 – $56.49. Grade:
Faculty 507.
Part‑time, intermittent position (less than 30 SWH). Eligible for mental healthcare, retirement savings plan, wellbeing program, prorated paid holidays and accrued sick time.
