Job Summary

The Instructional Technology Resource Teacher (ITRT) collaborates with educators, administrators, and the broader school community to integrate digital learning throughout the curriculum. The ITRT acts as an innovator and facilitator, supporting personalized and deeper learning pathways for all students through effective integration of instructional technology. This role includes professional learning facilitation, instructional design collaboration, digital citizenship advocacy, and serving as a resource and coach for educators.

Responsibilities

/ Duties / Functions / Tasks Classroom Support and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with teachers and instructional teams to integrate technology effectively into instructional practices and curriculum.
  • Co-facilitate lessons and activities that enhance student learning through innovative technology applications.
  • Model effective use of instructional technology and strategies for digital learning.
Professional Learning Facilitation
  • Disseminate information regarding instructional technology resources, emerging technologies, best practices, and professional development opportunities.
  • Facilitate professional development and coaching cycles that empower teachers in digital learning integration and instructional technology proficiency.
  • Create and maintain an instructional playbook integrating division-supported resources, effective teaching strategies, and emerging instructional technology trends.
Curriculum and Learning Design
  • Assist educators in selecting, implementing, and evaluating instructional technology tools aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning and division curriculum goals.
  • Advocate and support the integration of digital learning, computer science standards, and deeper learning pathways into core curricula.
Data-Driven Decision Making
  • Assess and analyze the use of instructional technology and its impact on teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Use data analytics to identify areas of instructional technology growth and inform ongoing professional learning and instructional practices.
Digital Citizenship Advocacy
  • Curate resources and facilitate instruction on digital citizenship, online safety, and responsible technology use aligned with division policies.
  • Model high-quality digital citizenship and guide educators, students, and families in understanding and adhering to the division's Acceptable Use Policy.
Administrative and Technical Support
  • Provide basic, tier-one technical support during instructional activities, referring unresolved technical issues to appropriate IT support personnel.
  • Collaborate with school and division leaders to develop and implement the division's instructional technology plan.
  • Participate in technology planning committees, supporting the evaluation and recommendation of instructional technology resources.
Communication and Community Engagement
  • Foster relationships with administrators, families, and the school community to promote understanding of instructional technology goals and resources.
  • Facilitate and participate in community events and workshops focused on digital learning and technology integration.
Professionalism and Abilities
  • Maintain a valid Virginia teaching license with a minimum of three years of classroom experience.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Engage in continuous professional growth and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adhere to division policies, federal and state laws, and maintain ethical professional standards.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Valid Virginia teaching license with at least three years of classroom teaching experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform tasks involving standing, walking, lifting (up to 40 lbs.), and other physical activities as required.

Special Requirements
  • Valid driver's license.
