Position: ELEMENTARY ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE TEACHER 2026-27

Elementary English as a Second Language Teacher 2026-27

Applicants will be considered for Elementary ELL teaching positions for the 2026-27 school year. Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Virginia prior to August 2026.

Position Description/Job Summary

The teacher will plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school‑related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community. Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.

Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Plan a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Regularly meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.
  • Create a classroom environment that engages students and enables them to achieve learning objectives.
  • Provide an instructional program to meet the needs of all students.
  • Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establish clear objectives, and communicate them to students.
  • Establish learning objectives based on student needs, school curriculum framework, and human development knowledge.
  • Plan and employ instructional methods, resources, and evaluation techniques to motivate and enable each student.
  • Take safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and school policy.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules pertaining to student life and conduct, develop classroom behavior rules, and maintain classroom order fairly.
  • Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside instructional days when required or requested.
  • Build relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community that reflect respect for every individual.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers.
  • Appraise personal effectiveness and strive to increase professional competence.
  • Participate in school management and share responsibility for the total school program.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education, including instructional technology.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Minimum

Job Requirements /Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
  • A collegiate professional license with an endorsement at the appropriate level.
  • Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
Physical Requirements

Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.
