Regular schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday with some flexibility required.
Responsibilities- Manage product development projects to meet performance requirements and timelines.
- Plan, execute, and report product testing through internal or external test facilities.
- Ensure appropriate equipment is used for designated products.
- Coordinate validation of new product designs during first article production and update designs as needed.
- Ensure product and process quality by defining equipment process capabilities, establishing standards, and analyzing non‑conformances.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation and systems.
- Manage custom product design review, approval, and change process, including customer approvals.
- Manage regulatory agency design requirements such as UL, ABS, and MSHA.
- Enter data into ERP system regarding finished goods part numbers with proper approval status.
- Support cost calculation process and integrate information to support ERP systems.
- Promote OCC’s service excellence and quality: provide excellent service to customers, build strong relationships, focus on quality, communicate respectfully, demonstrate compassion.
- Champion OCC’s mission, vision, and values, comply with policies, procedures, ethical standards, and Code of Conduct.
- Organizational responsibility: work with manufacturing, sales, and quality.
- Communication: extensive daily communication with most departments.
- Confidentiality: handle sensitive information with high confidentiality.
- Financial responsibility: track regulatory projects to document company cost.
- Judgment: inaccuracies could impact regulatory and standards compliance, quality, customer satisfaction, and financial impact.
- Compliance: regulatory compliance for UL and other standards, SOX, ISO, internal.
- Travel: limited but may be necessary for external cable testing.
- Education:
BS in Engineering or scientific field. Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering ideal. Masters in polymer science desirable. - Experience:
3+ years preferred in manufacturing environment. - Technical ability to understand and implement engineering concepts and perform independently.
- Technical skills to understand and manage complex product design and material performance.
- Problem solving, communication, and professional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills – 50% computer work with Word, Excel, Access, Syspro ERP.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks on a tight schedule; time‑critical support for order entry and release.
- Strong team player, willing to share knowledge and learn new skills.
