Product Engineer

Regular schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday with some flexibility required.

• Manage product development projects to meet performance requirements and timelines.
• Plan, execute, and report product testing through internal or external test facilities.
• Ensure appropriate equipment is used for designated products.
• Coordinate validation of new product designs during first article production and update designs as needed.
• Ensure product and process quality by defining equipment process capabilities, establishing standards, and analyzing non‑conformances.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation and systems.
• Manage custom product design review, approval, and change process, including customer approvals.
• Manage regulatory agency design requirements such as UL, ABS, and MSHA.
• Enter data into ERP system regarding finished goods part numbers with proper approval status.
• Support cost calculation process and integrate information to support ERP systems.
• Promote OCC’s service excellence and quality: provide excellent service to customers, build strong relationships, focus on quality, communicate respectfully, demonstrate compassion.
• Champion OCC’s mission, vision, and values, comply with policies, procedures, ethical standards, and Code of Conduct.

• Organizational responsibility: work with manufacturing, sales, and quality.
• Communication: extensive daily communication with most departments.
• Confidentiality: handle sensitive information with high confidentiality.
• Financial responsibility: track regulatory projects to document company cost.
• Judgment: inaccuracies could impact regulatory and standards compliance, quality, customer satisfaction, and financial impact.
• Compliance: regulatory compliance for UL and other standards, SOX, ISO, internal.
• Travel: limited but may be necessary for external cable testing.

• Education:
  
  BS in Engineering or scientific field. Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering ideal. Masters in polymer science desirable.
• Experience:
  
  3+ years preferred in manufacturing environment.
• Technical ability to understand and implement engineering concepts and perform independently.

• Technical skills to understand and manage complex product design and material performance.
• Problem solving, communication, and professional interpersonal skills.
• Excellent computer skills – 50% computer work with Word, Excel, Access, Syspro ERP.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks on a tight schedule; time‑critical support for order entry and release.
• Strong team player, willing to share knowledge and learn new skills.
