AECOM is actively seeking an Entry-Level Highway Design Engineer to join the Transportation team in Roanoke, VA. This position is scheduled to begin in May 2026. As an Entry Level Highway Design Engineer, you will gain experience working as part of a team on a wide range of transportation projects. You will build analytic and design skills, create designs, perform calculations, and draft construction plans under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

• Performs a variety of assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks.
• Builds analytic and design skills.
• Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Works closely with the design team to create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
• Assists the Project Management team with administration on a small to moderate size and scope project, or a portion of a larger, more complex project, following set guidelines for tasks.
• Attends meetings and reports on project tasks as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• EIT Certification.
• Relevant internship or co‑op experience in highway design and/or transportation.
• Working knowledge of Open Roads (ORD) or Civil3D design software and 3D modeling techniques.

• Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
• Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000 per year.
