Senior Operations Specialist (Water)
HDR is seeking an energetic, hard‑working problem solver to become a full‑time Senior Operations Specialist focused on municipal and industrial water treatment facilities. The role is based in the East Region and will contribute to a nationwide Operations Team, coordinating best practices across our extensive project backlog throughout the United States.
Primary Responsibilities- Support HDR project leaders on local, state, and regional water treatment projects requiring input from Operations Specialists.
- Review drawings for operability and Haz Ops analysis to ensure successful operation of varied treatment processes.
- Manage operations and maintenance projects with municipal and industrial clients, including client interfacing, regulatory reporting, and subcontractor oversight.
- Develop startup and commissioning plans, host workshops, and train client contractors and operators.
- Perform startup and commissioning of new water treatment facilities, ensuring equipment functions correctly before handover.
- Conduct formal and informal training to help plants operate at peak performance.
- Participate in facility testing to confirm startup readiness and design capacity compliance.
- Execute condition assessment and asset management tasks using state‑of‑the‑art evaluation tools.
- Troubleshoot and evaluate operational or maintenance issues on municipal and industrial facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years field experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, instrumentation equipment, and resolving water treatment process problems. Construction experience is a plus.
- High level water treatment operator license or professional engineering license.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications.
- Microsoft Office product and computerized maintenance/management systems experience required.
- Valid driver’s license.

Compensation for this position ranges from $71,960 to $128,500, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographic location.

ScheduleFull‑time – Regular employee status.
TravelApproximately 30-40% travel required; weekend travel normally not required.
