Structural Engineer
Support the analysis, design, and detailing of building structural systems across educational, civic, cultural, and commercial projects. This is a development role on a licensure track, working directly alongside licensed structural engineers, architects, and interior designers in a single collaborative office.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the design of building structural systems
- Prepare construction documents
- Perform design load calculations and structural modeling
- Perform site visits to verify existing field conditions
- Conduct interdisciplinary coordination with architecture, civil, and MEP
Required
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in building structural design
- FE passed and EIT designation preferred, or a clear intent to pursue licensure
- Working proficiency in the design of building structural systems and the production of construction documents
Preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and RISA-3D or equivalent analysis software
- Exposure to existing-building assessment or renovation work
- Field experience verifying existing conditions
Cultural and historic preservation: Virginian Railway Station, the O. Winston Link Museum and Roanoke Valley Visitors Center in the historic passenger station, Center in the Square, the Lincoln Theatre, Heartwood, the Patrick Henry, the General Francis Marion Hotel, Shenandoah River State Park Visitors Center, Kids Square Children's Museum.
