Senior Control Engineer

Careerscape is recruiting a Senior Control Systems Lead Engineer for a confidential client.

Full-time | Onsite in Roanoke, Virginia | One opening

Salary: $145,650–$159,087 per year.

Lead complex industrial automation projects from design and programming through testing, implementation, and commissioning. This hands‑on technical leadership role combines control-system engineering, customer collaboration, troubleshooting, and mentoring other engineers.

• Lead the design, development, programming, testing, implementation, and commissioning of industrial control systems.
• Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications for new installations and system upgrades.
• Design and review electrical controls, control panels, instrumentation, and system architecture.
• Review customer specifications and prepare or evaluate system‑design documentation.
• Serve as technical lead for complex automation and system‑integration projects.
• Integrate industrial networking and control technologies.
• Guide and mentor engineers and programmers.
• Participate in customer meetings, technical presentations, project planning, and proposal development.
• Support field troubleshooting and commissioning.

Strong capabilities in PLC programming, HMI development, SCADA, industrial control systems, industrial networking, electrical control‑panel design, instrumentation, motor controls, power distribution, system integration, testing and commissioning, industrial cybersecurity, and troubleshooting.

The process includes an initial recruiter or phone screen, a technical interview, an onsite assessment with practical controls exercises and a facility tour, and a final leadership discussion. The onsite assessment is expected to take approximately 5–6 hours.
