At Good Samaritan Hospice, we consider it a sacred honor to walk with individuals and families through the end‑of‑life and grief journey. We are seeking a compassionate, grounded, and skilled social worker to join our bereavement team as a Bereavement Counselor/Coordinator– someone who can offer hope, healing, and connection during some of life’s most profound moments.

If you are looking for a role where your presence truly matters, where your clinical skills are valued, and where you can see the impact of your work every day, this may be the perfect fit.

Why you will love working at Good Sam

  • You are part of a mission‑driven team. Join a compassionate, supportive group that believes "every moment of the journey matters."
  • You are recognized and valued. We honor the emotional labor, resilience, and expertise required in this role.
  • You will have the space to do work you are proud of. No rushed sessions, real time for meaningful connection.
What You Will Do
  • Complete bereavement assessments, identifying strengths, coping abilities, risks, and needs.
  • Create and implement individualized plans of care based on clients’ goals and wishes.
  • Provide individual grief support and counseling, crisis intervention, and short‑term therapeutic support.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and consultant for social workers and bereavement staff.
  • Co‑facilitate grief support groups, workshops, and community programs throughout the year.
  • Assist the bereavement team in providing community education on grief, loss, coping, and healing.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation per organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct follow‑up outreach and reassessments to evaluate progress and adjust care plans.
What We Are Looking For
  • Master’s degree in social work (from a school of social work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education); LCSW or licensure eligible preferred.
  • Experience in hospice, palliative care, grief counseling, or mental health.
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to hold space for clients experiencing grief.
  • Exceptional communication, empathy, professionalism, and emotional resilience.
  • A heart for mission‑driven, relational work with individuals and families.
Schedule & Compensation

Schedule: Flexible hours around a core schedule (Monday‑Friday approx. 8:30 AM–5:00 PM).

Pay: Starting at $67,000 / year (commensurate with licensure and experience).

Benefits: 21 days of PTO in your first year, $.60 per mile mileage reimbursement, company‑paid life insurance and long‑term disability insurance, medical through an ICHRA model offering multiple plan choices, and 401(k) with company match (100 % match on the first 3 %, 50 % match on the next 1 %).
