Job Title: Clinical Associate - New River Valley Medical Center ER - FT
Description Full time, Night shift, 2900 Lamb Cir, Christiansburg, VA. As a clinical associate, you will provide basic clinical services and clerical support to the unit health‑care team.
Orientation: You must attend required orientation classes on weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm for the first two weeks. Two classes are online; others are in person in Roanoke, VA.
Shift Pattern: Three 12‑hour Night shifts each week with every other weekend and rotating holiday requirements.
Responsibilities- Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.
- May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Coordinates patient flow using department/unit specific software and Intranet; schedules therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
- May review medical records for outstanding orders and notify nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
- Cleans unit‑based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.
- Transports patients, supplies, specimens and equipment within the facility.
- May assist with chart audits.
- May perform unit‑based patient care tasks for patients.
- May participate in the sitter process.
- Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
- Answers incoming calls via telephone and patient call system; routes calls as needed and takes messages.
- Provides scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including backup coverage.
- Operates and maintains general office equipment; orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.
- Serves as a resource for department/unit software system.
- Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and performs safety/environmental rounds.
- Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit.
- High school graduate or GED.
- No prior experience required.
- No licensure, certification, or registration required unless the following:
- Certified Nursing Assistant is required for Critical Access Area.
- AHA BLS‑HCP required.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and team‑working skills.
- Must be organized and self‑motivated.
- Must have knowledge of office procedure and equipment.
